The rest of the world is counting on you, Americans!

Americans!!  You are the only ones who can participate in your upcoming election so on behalf of foreigners like me, (in my case, a proud Canadian living in Anguilla, British West Indies) PLEASE get involved and please vote.  The higher the turnout, the more those of us who are not Americans can respect your outcome.

To my regular readers, apologies for this digression from the management of law firms... but I was so tempted to express a political view and managed to suppress it in favour of simply encouraging participation.  There... it's off my chest!  Thank you for permitting this indulgence.

For a word on civility in this context, have a look at the post of one of my heroes, American, Tom Peters: Civil! Civil! Civil!

Amen on all points !!!

I was speaking with an Australian lawyer last weekend, and he reminded me that voting is compulsory over there.

Hi Gerry!

I wouldn't miss it for the world. I'm proud to be able to vote.

I hope all is well...

Nancy

Thanks for the reminder. I hope that we Americans can respect our own outcome this time around. There is tremendous insecurity about the validity and honesty of our poll process. Many Americans would like foreign representatives to come and monitor our elections, much like Americans used to monitor elections in South Africa. Anybody wanna come monitor? Pretty Please? Seriously, it is that bad over here and we appreciate your attention and oversight to our broken but healing government.

Namaste,

Kimberella of Albuquerque
